“Reading on the Downlow”

Our literacy skills program allows individuals to receive tutoring and instruction for the improvement of basic reading skills and literary comprehension.

Assisting individuals by teaching the skills necessary to function at a higher cognitive level encouraging the deterence and abstinence from illegal behavior.

Instilling the qualities that will allow individuals to make a living and promoting positive reinforcement of the skills necessary to meet life’s goals.

_{We believe that a large percentage of our population of young men would turn from crime as their source of survival if they had the opportunity to strengthen their social and academic skills.}

_{Reading is the number one deterent for our young men to seek out formal employment. The inability to fill out an job application as well as sit in an job interview prohibits them from trying to meet the standards of acceptable social behavior.}

“We must not linger on where they have been or what they have, or have not done. We must begin to meet them where they are and fill the void of education, training, mentoring and personal development to turn their  lives around.”
